Hi, my name is Stephanie and I'm a sewaholic.
I've been hand sewing for as long as I can remember, and machine sewing since I was 13. It's only been since I got connected with the online sewing world that I've really gotten serious about my quilting and sewing.
About me? Well, I was born in Santa Cruz, California and lived there until I moved away to go to college. While attending Biola University in southern California I met my husband Andrew, and after graduating with a BA in Anthropology/ Archaeology in 2007 I never moved back to Santa Cruz.
Andrew and I were married on August 2, 2008 in Santa Barbara, California. Since then we've both gone back to school. I received my Master's degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University in 2011, while my husband received a Master's degree in Special Education in 2009 and a PhD in Education in 2013, both from Chapman University.
It was while I was working on completing my Master's degree that my sewing really took off again, and I started making all sorts of quilts and other projects for friends to pass the time and take my mind off my studies. At the urging of my friends I launched my Etsy shop called SewingByStephanie in May 2012 in which I sell custom quilts.
Up until the summer of 2013 I filled my days sewing away in my craft room and being mommy to my three dogs, Davey, Dee Dee, and Fred, but in June 2013 my husband and I welcomed a little girl into the world, our daughter Penny. Now I spend the majority of my day taking care of her, but I still manage to work on projects from time to time.
